Apocriphal letter sent by Andrés Rodríguez Millán, who pretends to be Gil de Orzera, to Ignacio de Arisméndez.

The author informs Ignacio de Arisméndez that he is waiting for the arrival of the servant of the addressee and warns him to tell the servant to be discreet and not to ask after anyone.

In 1745, Manuel Navarro y Larraga was accused of sorcery. He was seized five notes, various papers, a candle and other objects. The notes contained a list of instructions to find a treasure, but only one of them has been conserved (PS8101). It seems that these notes had been sent by Ignacio de Arisméndez by means of a servant, who brought them to Belmonte, where the treasure could allegedly be found. The accused had been imprisoned for six years in Ceuta, where afterwards he lived, because he had been banished from Madrid for another crime. He had planned to go to Belmonte to follow the instructions contained in the notes. There had been a correspondence between the two of them, before the travel of Manuel Navarro y Larraga to Belmonte, in which they discussed the matter of the treasure.

Mui sr mio i mi dueño,

rezivi la de Vmd de 29 de noviembre en la qe me espresa quedaba dispuniendo el ymbiar a su criado con la brebedad posible; por lo qe y aviendose pasado dos meses y medio con corta dife-renzia estraño la tardanza motibo qe insta a cansar a Vmd; pra saber el yncombeniente qe ocasiona lo dho pues me tiene con mucho cuidado, lo qe pido a Ds no sea por quebranto de salud ea en la suposicion d que no ai la menor cosa que se oponga a la conziencia en este caso como lo tiene asegurado en las suias; encargo a Vmd; prebenga a su criado, no pregunte en esta villa por mi ni pr; otro cualesquiera sujeto si solo por el correo que executandole asi ba con mas formalidad, y no sospechara si el que va por cartas, pues se nezesita yr en esto con pasos de plomo; Asimismo pongo en notizia de Vmd; como tengo sujeto de toda mi satisfazion para en aquel lanze que guarde las espaldas: como tambien lo nezesario para la execuzion de el caso, pues solo resta el que Vmd; despache a su criado para este pais con el seguro de que por mi parte no se dilatara un momento de luego que llegue y asi en esto como en lo que mi ynutilidad pueda contrivuir la mui suia en la ejecuzion de sus prezeptos que con esto i no ofrezerse otra cosa quedo rogando a Dios me guarde a Vmd; por dilatados años
