Letter from Manuel de Riñón del Mozo, a sergeant, to his wife Juana Collado y Riñón (also known as La Chichada).

Manuel de Riñón writes his wife, Juana Collado, to inform her that he arrived to Valladolid, and to tell her that he is surprised not to have received any news from her and that she did not do what he requested her. There is also a brief annotation addressed to Tomás, stepson of the author, in which the author asks him to do what he requested him as soon as possible.

In 1820, Manuel Riñón, a retired sergeant from Aguilar de Campos and resident in Valladolid, was accused of bigamy because of rumours which came out in Cuenca, where his wife Juana Collado lived with his stepson Tomás. Those rumours insinuated that Manuel Riñón had another family in Valladolid. Juana Collado and her son declared that they had heard those rumours, but they did not know if they were true. Juana declared that his husband had confessed her that he had other children, but he had not said anything about another wife. These letters were presented in order to demonstrate that Juana Collado knew only that her husband lived in Valladolid, but did not know precisely where and with whom. The proceedings are incomplete, so we cannot know if Manuel Riñón had another wife or not.
